An early morning hike in the Tortolita Preserve on Mothers Day 2021 revealed continued dry conditions and tree/cactus/plant stress. Palo Verde, Ironwood and cactus blooms are spotty.
Here are two photos taken at the exact same spot almost exactly one year apart. The left photo was taken this morning (5/9/21) and the right photo was taken on 5/17/20. Note there are no ironwood blossoms, no palo verde blossoms and no grass in this year's photo. Also, there is very little greenery in the foreground compared to last year. We badly need some monsoonal rain.
Please enjoy the following collage of additional photos taken today in our beautiful Tortolita Preserve and have a wonderful Mothers Day!
