Tortolita Alliance (TA) attended the Local Drought Impact Group (LDIG) Meeting via Microsoft Team today (March 10, 2021).


LDIG is a bi-monthly gathering of local and state water agencies to discuss latest drought conditions across the state of AZ. Attendees include: TA, Marana Water, Tucson Water, Metro Water, National Weather Service-Tucson, Central Arizona Project (CAP), Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR), Pima County Office of Sustainability & Conservation (OSC) and more. The following information was gleaned from the meeting.



94% of Arizona in Severe, Extreme or Exceptional Drought




Precipitation At Tucson Airport In February Was Nil




US Seasonal Drought Forecast For The Southwest-Drought Persists





Colorado River Basin Precipitation Is 50% to 70% Below Normal





Lake Mead Projections-60-70% Chance-Tier 1 in 2022 & 2023

Lake Mead Projections-50% Chance-Tier 2 in 2024

Lake Mead Projections-20% Chance-Tier 3 in 2025





Summary


Drought Will Persist & Colorado River Water Deliveries Will Be Reduced
